Three Retired Projects Get New Life – Jump In!

In 2025, we’re excited to announce the return of three beloved projects: Meaningful Movies, Ballard Sprouts, and our DEI Taskforce (which will likely be getting a new name). We are looking for volunteers to join each of these projects. Please email info@sustainableballard.org if you are interested. And keep an eye on this newsletter for updates as we start assembling teams for each of these initiatives. We can’t wait to get these projects up and running again, and we’re looking forward to the positive impact they’ll have in our community!

  • Meaningful Movies Ballard – In collaboration with the Meaningful Movies Project, we will be showing a monthly movie. Each film highlights an aspect of sustainability: the problem and some creative solutions. Our team will locate a venue, arrange for screening rights and show the films.
  • Ballard Sprouts – In collaboration with Ballard Food Bank and Seattle Giving Gardens, we’ll be sprouting specialty edibles not covered by the other Sprouts teams. Once ready to go into the ground, the starts will be donated to the Ballard Food Bank and Giving Gardeners. Likely, we will focus on starting tomatoes and peppers/chiles this year.
  • DEI Taskforce – The DEI Taskforce is looking for folks interested in helping our neighbors learn how they can better advocate for racial and environmental justice. We are looking at sharing links to issues that come up through groups such as Front & Centered, CARW, King County Equity Now.
