More Volunteers Help Bring Food to Those in Need
The gleaning team collected another 1000lbs of produce this month. Our volunteers gleaned and sorted mushrooms, apples, onions, leafy greens, bread, and more. I’m also excited to share that SEVEN new volunteers have joined our team! Welcome to all our new volunteers! As we head further into spring and summer, the produce becomes more abundant and we can always use more hands. If you would also like to join our team, feel free to Email Lesya.

The gleaning program, part of Sustainable Ballard, is an opportunity for volunteers to donate their time to the community by collecting donated food from vendors at the Ballard Farmers Market and bringing it to the Ballard Food Bank. Last year, we collected over 18,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank! Gleaning is a great way to connect with other volunteers, vendors, and the farmers market staff, all while helping to ensure that our neighbors have access to fresh, local produce.
