Meet Tracy!

Our New Project Lead for Bakery Gleaning

WHY DID YOU JOIN SUSTAINABLE BALLARD?
I joined because many years ago while involved with Seattle branch of The Nature Conservancy we had a booth at a Sustainable Ballard event in Ballard Commons Park and I remember being really impressed and excited to discover their was such a non-profit locally in Ballard!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF SUSTAINABLE BALLARD?
Since 2021 I’ve been an active member and volunteer.

WHAT PROJECT(S) ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN?
I am the new program lead of the Bakery Gleaning Team. Also, I volunteered at the Spring Beer Hop and Sustainability Festival last year. I plan to dive deeper into the Knitting for Homeless group too once the weather cools down.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST SUSTAINABLE BALLARD EVENT/PROGRAM YOU ATTENDED? Besides tabling at that initial Sustainability Festival it would be volunteering with the Bakery Gleaning team to gather bread and donuts. It’s been an interesting way to see how our community can reach out to so many in need.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A MEMBER OF SUSTAINABLE BALLARD?
Meeting new people and helping our local community has been the highlight of being involved with Sustainable Ballard.

SHARE A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF: I love classical music and opera.
