Edible Garden Sustainable Preparation + Seed Swap
Gardeners feel antsy this time of year, but it’s not time to plant yet. Perhaps you’ve already looked through seed catalogs and planned your annual plantings to include the plants you learned about on last year’s Edible Garden Tour. What else can you do this time of year?
Here’s a few ideas for upcycling items you already have so that you can use them in your garden later in the year:
* Plant labels from plastic dairy containers (link: https://positivebloom.com/plastic-container-hack/)
* Plant labels from old mini blinds (link: https://www.instructables.com/Easy-to-Make-Plant-Markers-from-Mini-Blinds/)
* Origami seed envelopes from scratch paper – useful for seed saving, sharing seeds with friends, or bringing to the seed swap (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruRODeIn4oU)
* Seed organizing box from shoe boxes (link: https://www.apieceofrainbow.com/make-seed-box/)

Speaking of seeds, visit our table at the Great Seattle Seed Swap! The seed swap is happening on Saturday, January 25th, 2 pm – 4 pm at the Phinney Center. It’s a great way to share seeds that you have saved or bought while also picking up some new varieties. More information here (https://tilthalliance.org/event/the-great-seattle-seed-swap-2/)
