A Big Year for Little Sprouts!
Ballard Sprouts seeded and grew over 20,000 plants (early season crops of Kale, collards, lettuce, cabbage, Asian Greens etc) and distributed them to giving gardeners in April of 2023.
In April and May Ballard Sprouts seeded, transplanted, tended and donated 1,000 tomato plants to Seattle Giving Gardeners.
30 volunteers contributed 165 hours tending the plants once a week for 9 weeks. The greenhouse owner donated 100 hrs monitoring plants daily and another 50 hrs was donated by the project manager. That’s a total of 315 hours of volunteer labor!
Over 31 Seattle Giving gardens, associated with P-Patches, picked up the plants to grow and donate to the food banks. See the yellow dots on the map for P-Patches that were served.
