Sustainable NE Seattle ‘Hands-On’ Community Skills-Share Fair – Feb 10
VIII Annual Hands On! A Community Skills-Share Fair
February 10, 2018
Sustainable NE Seattle is collaborating with Meadowbrook Community Center to offer their 8th annual HANDS ON! community skills–share fair. FREE all day
Workshop Schedule
What is a skills fair?
A day of sharing practical skills with our neighbors – we will have short workshops on a wide variety of skills.
ORGANIZERS ARE LOOKING FOR TEACHERS NOW. If you have a skill you would like to share, write to susnesteering@gmail.com to offer a workshop idea, or if you have a skill you want to learn find a member of your community who knows that skill and ask them if they will teach. Classes are minimum 30 minutes and some up to two hours, but most are one hour long. Past classes range from basketweaving to splint setting, soil building to solar oven building. The possibilities are wide open. The sooner you can commit to teaching the better for filling the classes with participants.
Lunch provided with guest speaker Arthur Lee Jacobson with a presentation on Seattle plant foraging. He will have a walking tour on the property after the luncheon.
Volunteers are needed:
- coordinators for workshops and volunteers
- making a pot of soup for lunch
- day-of help: check-in table, setting up lunch, Clothing Exchange area, Fermentation Station area, Bike repair area
- social media and community outreach.
IF you can help, let us know as soon as you can! susnesteering@gmail.com
The Fair is FREE. No need to register although some classes have size limits, it is first come, first served. Bring clothes you want to contribute to the exchange and tools to sharpen.
