Announcing the 1st Annual First-Ever Blake Island Environmental Reunion Camp for all who care about our local waters.

  • "Do-It-Yourself" Camp, Paddle, Row, Kayak, Sail, Surf, Hike Adventure ... a friendly green antidote to loud-not-so-green Seafair. Bring friends, families, kids! Spread the word! Help us found this annual event! Don't forget your LAWN CHAIRS, games and solar cookers! Local musicians joining us!

  • BEACH CAMPING: FIRST COME/ FIRST SERVED/ RESERVE AND PAY AT BLAKE "DAY OF". 2 tents per site/ 8 people max/ $19 per nite). (beach campsites opposite Blake Island Marina)
  • OR ... HILL CAMPING at our reserved group site. RESERVE WITH VIC AHEAD OF TIME/ $5 per person per night. (RSVP vic (AT) sustainableballard.org) AND send check by July 25 / address 2442 NW Market St NW, Sea 98107. No money allowed to be exchanged at Blake towards group site or this event (Blake Island rules). Plan ahead and RSVP to Vic if camping in group site.. Much appreciated. (group campsite up the hill, near Blake Island Marina)
  • How to get there: Your boat, kayak, your friends boat or a rental ... OR RESERVE a seat on Tillicum Argosy Ferry ahead of time. Leaving downtown Seattle waterfront Pier 55/ 1101 Alaskan Way, 98101 (book by phone 206.623.1445 / or online: http://www.argosycruises.com (When making reservations, important to tell Argosy you will be camping overnight ... and not signing up for the Tillicum salmon dinner)(otherwise you will be charged more).
  • Round Trip: Adults $41/ Seniors $38/ Kids ages 5 - 12, $13/
  • Scheduled Ferry Departures: (2 per day Jul 31 - Aug 2)
  • Seattle to Blake Island: 11:30am & 4:30pm
  • Blake Island to Seattle: 2:30pm & 7:30pm:
  • Dogs are allowed at Blake Island/ BUT not allowed to be transported by Argosy Ferry. Weird yeah? However lots of camping gear is allowed ... bring a cart or dolly if need be.
  • Vic's sailboat 'Moondog' may escort kayakers at 2pm on friday from Alki Beach (across from statue) to Blake Island (across the shipping lane). We will arrange the return trip for sunday afternoon at 4pm. If interested, please contact Vic asap (email above).

  • Friday evening: Robinson Crusoe Cocktail Hour: sailboats rafted together ... campers ferried aboard sailboats to enjoy sunset and grog DONATED by Pike Brewing Company ! ( transported earlier via Sail Transport Company) AWESOME !!!.
  • Saturday Night: Feast Local Now: Bring your own camp-cooked meals--we will add fresh, local produce sail transported petroleum-free by Sail Transport Company. WONDERFUL !!!
  • Sunday Morning: America's Cup Chef -Omelet cooking contest ,,, bring your local fresh eggs and ingredients to win a prize. Join in the fun! DELICIOUS !!!
  • DO you have an event highlight to share?? Want to teach a birding class? Looking to pull together a soccer game? Want to hike the 4 mile loop around the island? Have an extra kayak to share? Want to compete in the paper airplane contest ( alternative to the Blue Angels)? We will have blackboards at both the BEACH and HILL camp to list your class or adventure you want to organize and share/ no money allowed to be collected).
  • We are looking forward to seeing you. This will be an informal gathering of friends, green organizations, businesses, individuals, families, kids! Designed to be small this first year until word gets out .. everyone is invited to this do-it-yourself event ... the more the merrier! Plenty to do at Blake .... hiking, swimming, sailing, kayaking ... and of course my favorite: doing nothing!!!! As this is loosely planned on purpose, please PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK: camping, boating, all of it. Be careful crossing the shipping lane, wear a life vest and let others know of your Float Plan!
  • 'Bring your own camping gear incl tents, mosquitos,sleeping bags, sunscreen, quarters for showers and icecream, hiking boots, soccer ball, frisbee, poker chips hammock, book, tarps to make shady beach huts, sombrero, cooking gear, green ghost stories, camera, solar cookers, volleyball, binoculars, bicycle (yep, it's allowed!), firewood, COFFEE, water toys, lawn chair, kites, swimsuit, insect repellent, SNACKS!, musical instruments ... and MUG for beer DONATED by Pike Brewing Company.
  • Groups interested: SCALLOPS (Sustainable Communities ALL Over Puget Sound), Washington Water Trails Association; Sail Transport Company; People for Puget Sound, Alki Kayak Tours, Moontown Foundation, kayak clubs as well as green and water-related businesses and non profits.
