Sustainable Ballard joins 10:10 US and 350.org for Global Work Party Day!
Join us for one of 10 work parties around the neighborhood. Meet up at Ballard Commons Park, NW 57th and 22nd NW, for great speakers and live music and then disperse to the neighborhood for work projects such as community garden and green building installations, clean-up and recycling events, weatherization workshops, and food harvesting! We'll come back together in the evening for a community celebration!

- Local professional designers display the best in Sustainable Fashion on our Music Stage on Saturday at 1:15. Featuring the trendiest looks for today's Eco Ethos!
- Flash Fashion / The Challenge (24 hours to sew!)
- Showcase your fashion flair with our ReCycled Flash Fashion Challenge! Pick-up a special garment kit on Saturday. Return on Sunday with your creation. Add other scraps and remnants (SewUpSeattle will have some at the Starting Lines) and/or add from your own stash. All sewing skills levels welcome! Enter the challenge on your own or team up to create.
- SewFun Bags (Sunday Only at the Ballard Library)
- Use surplus fabrics to make your new grocery bag, lunchbag or purse. Create two bags and leave one for donation to the Ballard Food Bank.
- Transportation Row
- Green transportation abounds! Check out biking and busing options. Learn how to use the bike rack on the bus. Enter our raffle to win a free Electric Bike, courtesy of Green Car Company!
- Sustainable Bike Tours!
- Meet at 1 pm at the Info Booth - corner of 57th and 22nd.
- Learn while you pedal and meet more of your green community. This 2-hour round trip ride from the 6th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival will stop at chicken coops, shared gardens, P-Patches, rain barrels, green buildings, cider presses, art, and more. Ride Saturday with Cathy Tuttle and Michael Snyder of Spokespeople, Sunday with Biking Puget Sound author Bill Thorness. Celebrate and go green!
- Undriving Ballard
- Pledge to reduce your car use (or the car use on the planet) and receive an official Undriver License and free bus passes courtesy of King County METRO.
- Food and Gardening
- Eat Local Now!
- Test your knowledge of local food with our Food Season bean bag toss and Name That Vegetable; and check out the map of farms and ranches within 150 miles of Ballard. Plus, we'll have experts on hand to help you with all your canning and food preservation questions!
- Urban Farm Zone
- Visit the chickens and goats in the Urban Barnyard, hosted by Seattle Farm Co-op. Make your own mason bee house with the Ballard Boys and Girls Club. Visit the Fruit Shack to learn about growing fruit and sample fresh pressed cider. Share what you know and learn what you don't about growing your own in the Sustainable Gardening Zone. Play Good Bug, Bad Bug. Plus live plant displays and information on Edible and Container Gardening, Native Plants, Wildlife Habitat, and More!

- Green Home Center
- Learn what you can do in each room of your house! Useful displays, demos and how-to tips on home energy. Lighting, appliances, furnishings, water and energy conservation.
- Recycling Toss
- New SPU rules have you confused about what goes where? Visit our Recycling Toss and learn while you play!
- Green Kids
- We'll have an area just for kids to dance and run and play! On Saturday, at 4:00, enjoy old-fashioned fun with a special visit from Bubbleman! On Sunday at 2:00 pm, Ballard's very own Gymboree hosts an outdoor class complete with parachute, games and songs for parents to enjoy together.
