Weaving our Web
A variety of fun, cultural, educational and conversational events, offered as a way for us to get together for fun and enrichment together as a community. These may include book groups, movie nights, Happy Hours, day trips, dinners, and anything else we may want to do together. Got questions, or ideas for fun activities to share? Please email Orna.
Sustainable Movie Series
Informative, inspiring, thought provoking movies on sustainable issues, offered free (with requested donation), accompanied by snacks and followed by discussion. Screened at Sunset Hill Community Club, 3003 NW 66th St., unless otherwise noted.
Sustainable Ballard Book Club
Currently taking the summer off and plan to resume in Aug-Sept.
Yes! Magazine Discussion Group
There is interest in forming a group that will meet monthly to discuss any articles in the current month's issue that most speak to us, so we can educate each other and think together about these current events and timely issues.
Ballard Homes-For-All Coalition
Together with Rep. MaryLou Dickerson, the Ballard Food Bank, Real Change, and the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness, we are exploring how we can address the needs of homeless people in Ballard. For more info please contact Jean
Community Building Project
This project is exploring ways for Sustainable Ballard to develop meaningful new relationships with groups such as the Arts community, Latinos, youth, and homeless people. We welcome your ideas and participation. For more info or to join our next meeting please email Orna.
Discussion group on David Korten's book
Starting in Fall 2010, Sustainable Ballard will be sponsoring, in collaboration with a number of other local organizations, study groups that will use David Korten's books, The Great Turning or Agenda For a New Economy, to explore why the current economic model is not working for us and in what ways it needs to change. Join an existing group or start one of your own! For more information contact Joshua
Sustainable Ballard Soccer
Join us for a friendly game! All ages and skill levels welcome.
Every Sunday, 3:00 pm @ Gilman Playfield.

Great Projects Waiting for an Inspired Volunteer to Take On (with help, of course!)

Discussion courses by Northwest Earth Institute
NWEI offers great 5-8 week discussion courses for small groups of neighbors to read, learn and grow together right in your living rooms! Course topics, to be chosen by participants, include: Choices for Sustainable Living, Voluntary Simplicity, Menu for the Future, Healthy children Healthy Planet, Global Warming, Discovering a Sense of Place, and more. If you'd like to participate or help coordinate a small group to study any of these topics, please contact Orna.
Alternative Economy Group
What new economic systems can we build to help ourselves and our community be more sustainable and self-sufficient? There are great alternative models already available for us to learn about, join and support, such as cooperatives, barter, resource sharing, community banks and credit unions, and more! Start a discussion group going!
Saturday House
"A Saturday House is a weekly gathering of several people who meet and do ... whatever they want! People work on projects, people talk about ideas, people conspire and hatch plans, and people play games with each other. [1] For more info contact Fulvio
Ballard "Third Place"
Long-range wish: having our own "Phinney Neighborhood Center."
