EAT LOCAL CHALLENGE 2008
Project Lead: Jennifer Mundee
September 2008 we will join other groups across the country in our Eat Local Challenge month!! The goal is to try to get everything that we eat from within 100 or 150 miles and really raise awareness about where our food comes from. We want to make this a huge community event and provide information and a support group for people eating locally while raising awareness about local foods in the greater community. Come to our kick off event Monday August 25 at the Sunset Hill Community Center 6:30-9pm for a local food potluck. Come to the Sustainable Ballard Festival September 27 and 28 and share your stories at the Food Tent. We'll have local food demos and presentations on canning, cheese making and more...and of course we'll be pressing cider again! Please join us in the Eat Local Challenge in Ballard!! Ever wonder how much pasture and farmland we have in cultivation near Seattle?
Check out Matt's map showing the amount of farmland within 50 and 100 miles and join the discussion of how many people can be fed off the available farmland. contours-coregis.blogspot.com
