Some Ways You Can Help Fight Homelessness in Ballard This Winter Include:

• SB Knitters for the Homeless meets every 2nd Friday at Aster Café, 7PM -9PM. Knit community and warm scarves, hats for homeless community members! Bring a pair of size 10 needles. We have plenty of yarn.
• Bring winter coats, sweaters, warm hats, gloves, and blankets to the next SB gathering. We’ll funnel them to organizations that will distribute them directly to the homeless.
• Volunteer at a church's soup kitchen:
- - Trinity United Methodist on 65th & 23rd is hosting a Saturday Soup
- - St. Luke’s Episcopal on 22nd and 57th can use volunteers every Thursday preparing for their weekly Friday lunch offered to the needy.
• The Bridge Care Center - at 1516 NW 51st Street (just south of the Ballard Bridge) serves primarily as a clothing bank, providing local homeless people with clothing, shoes, sleeping bags and rain capes at no cost, as well as internet access, counseling services and case management. See this great short video and this BNT article for more info. Donations of clothes gratefully accepted TUE. 2 - 6 pm and THUR. 10 am - 2 pm.
• Join other advocates and concerned community members at the next meeting of the Ballard Community Taskforce on Homelessness and Hunger, meeting Thursday, February 23rd and on the fourth Thursday of each month, 6:30PM - 8:30PM at the Swedish Hospital Ballard campus.
