On January 19th, 2012 from 6:30-8:30pm, the Longhouse will present a free program, in conjunction with the Antioch University Inclusion Justice Committee and promote a better understanding of the importance of developing leadership and diversity to further social justice change. Duwamish youth will be on the panel.
This project exists to "promote Duwamish cultural heritage and environmental leadership through the production of a Duwamish Digital Story on the Tribe's view on the cultural and environmental value of the clean-up of the Duwamish River. The DS (digital story) will be generated by tribal youth who will be developing leadership and advocacy skills as part of the project. The project begins in November with the final product being produced by late winter for presentation to EPA in conjunction with the Duwamish River Clean-up Coalition in the spring. There will also be a showing at the Duwamish Longhouse. The project is supported by funding from the Social Justice Fund."
