Despite measured support from Decriminalize Seattle and King County Equity Now for the City of Seattle budget, we are encouraging folks to continue with Friday Night Demonstrations in light of the injustices that continue throughout the country. We’ll continue to send updates to our BLM Protests mailing list as we learn of relevant news.
This is a marathon (or maybe a relay race), so please sub in whenever you can. Bring signs that express the demands of the movement (e.g. Invest in Black Communities, “#BlackLivesMatter”, BIPOC Lives Matter, Silence = Violence, etc.) Please tweet and share this event with your network.
PLEASE WEAR MASKS & FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES. We can spread out from 65th and 15th for space. Do NOT attend if you are sick, exhibiting symptoms, or if you believe you have come into contact with someone who had COVID-19.

This event is organized to give Ballard neighbors an opportunity to come together and express our solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. It is not intended to compete with other actions and protests around Seattle. But it will provide an opportunity for those who may be unable to participate in those actions to make their voices heard… and to begin organizing further solidarity actions in our neighborhood. If you cannot join us in person, make noise and let people know you care from home!
Can’t Make the Demonstrations? Want to Help More?
If you can’t march, take this time as an opportunity to familiarize yourself with your local elected officials. This includes your mayor, city council, county executive, county council, county prosecutor, and state representatives. It helps if you collaborate with friends and neighbors, and reach out to people you know who are more familiar with the local issues. It’s up to you to make sure your local officials feel the pressure to improve police accountability and dismantle the structural racism that has been built into all of our institutions.
Take action now!
